A Sunshine Coast company that designs and manufactures live fire training systems has been acknowledged with a major Australian defence industry award.

Kunda Park-based RAIDER Targetry was announced as the small-to-medium (SME) enterprise of the year at the Defence Connect Australian Defence Industry Awards.

The awards shone a spotlight on the people and organisations leading the way in the sector.

RAIDER Targetry CEO, chief technical officer and co-founder Dr Mick Fielding said those involved with the business were “absolutely delighted” to win the award.

“Over the past few years, we have experienced steady growth as we continue to expand and evolve our product range, which has received interest globally,” he said.

“Winning this award is recognition of our contribution to defence through realistic, deployable training targets that improve the operational capability of our Australian and international defence customers.”

The Australian Defence Industry Awards recognise defence industry stakeholders, including SMEs, defence executives, Indigenous and female leaders, students, scientists, technicians and academics.

The awards are open to all Australian businesses supporting the defence supply chain.

RAIDER Targetry designs and manufactures live fire training systems globally.

The company’s range of scalable and deployable autonomous robotic platforms are designed to meet the unique training and evaluation needs of defence.

A media statement, on behalf of RAIDER Targetry, said the business’ products and services augment training programs, improve combat readiness and enhance effectiveness in contested environments.

“Using a variety of technologies, our products and services incorporate autonomous systems, robotics, and advanced engineering,” it stated.

“RAIDER Targetry provides an end-to-end service, from R&D (research and development), concept and design right through to full product deployment and ongoing support.”
