Five teenagers have been charged following investigations into a fire that significantly damaged an athletics track at Sippy Downs last month.
Emergency services were called to an athletics club at the University of the Sunshine Coast on Olympic Way at about 2.18am on August 9 after a fire was reported inside a rubbish bin.
The bin was destroyed in the blaze, while the section of athletics track where it had been sitting was significantly damaged.
Following subsequent investigations, police charged three teenagers with arson, wilful damage, and face masked, blackened or disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence.
The three boys are a 15-year-old from Palmview, a 14-year-old from Palmview and a 14-year-old from Sippy Downs.
Two 13-year-old Sippy Downs boys were also charged with arson, and face masked, blackened or disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence.
All five teenagers have been dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
