A ‘revolutionary’ over-50s community has released a score of new homes, as it prepares to open a hub and social centre.

Greenwood Forest Glen, a growing estate at the western foothills of the Buderim Mountain, has released 35 new homes, ahead of its opening of Club Eden.

There are 83 occupied homes in the development, and another 23 are under construction. The release of the next batch of residences will bring the estate closer to its expected capacity of 180 houses.

Sales manager Rob Midgley said the homes would provide much-needed accommodation for people looking to downsize.

“It’s important to be able to offer a downsizing opportunity to over-55s who are looking to move to a more luxurious and affordable lifestyle,” he said.

The stylish Club Eden is about to officially open.

“Ninety-five of our current residents have relocated here from other areas of the Sunshine Coast, so this shows how much these kinds of properties are needed.”

Mr Midgley said the high-quality homes couldn’t come at a better time as the region experienced challenges across the housing market.

“We’re very proud to offer a product that can help locals stay in the region and not be forced to look away from the Coast,” he said.

The release of the homes comes ahead of the opening of Club Eden.

It boasts an event space, function room and spaces for meetings, activities, parties and events.

It has a 25m pool, gym, tennis court, library, art studio, workshop, games room and bowling green, along with a community garden.

Greenwood Forest Glen is close to the growing Forest Glen township, which includes a new village centre, grocery store, health centre and revamped chemist.

“Residents of Greenwood enjoy a more affordable cost of living and a great quality of life with easy access to amenities, local shops and public transport, as well as beautifully private natural surroundings including our five hectares of private conservation reserve with walking trails,” Mr Midgley said.

Construction of stage 4B started in July, with completion estimated to be towards the end of next year.

To celebrate, an event is being held on Saturday, August 12, from 9am-1pm with festivities including lucky door prizes, a live radio broadcast, food and drink stalls, wildlife display and forest trail tours.
