A Sunshine Coast farmstay has opened bookings for its new powered sites and restaurant.
Sixty6 Acres opened in Woombye in 2023 with seven self-contained farm quarters, but closed to customers 15 months later to undergo major upgrades to the property.
The new hilltop Farmhouse restaurant has now opened for bookings, along with 93 powered sites suitable for caravans, camping or RVs.
Owners Andrew and Jo Pitcher have tapped into a rich vein of local, interstate and international markets looking for high-quality accommodation for couples and families.
“In the last few years, we’ve had lots of inquiry for family reunions, milestone birthdays and even yoga or corporate retreats, so the Farmhouse will accommodate these perfectly,” Mr Pitcher said.
“We are very excited about the range of celebrations and special events we can now cater for in our classy coastal country location.
“Sixty6 Acres is a great example of the growing agritourism trend, combining all the animal interactions and rural vistas you’d expect from a farmstay but with a firm focus on showcasing the region’s rich agricultural history – namely pineapples and sugar cane that the Sunshine Coast was once famous for.
“Guests will be able to help harvest their own produce when in season and savour the fruits of their labour on site.
“Many of our guests are unaware how pineapples grow, despite it being the pre-eminent crop in this part of the Coast since the 1950s. There is a reason they built the Big Pineapple in Woombye.
“We grew up within 2km of here and are proudly family-owned and operated, so we bring lots of personal touches and provide a link to the area’s history.
“Mum and Dad were pineapple farmers in Woombye in the ’60s and ’70s – there are lots of photos of us as kids on the back of tractors and in pineapple crates.
“We want guests to come see our pineapples at various stages of growth, meet our friendly, fluffy herd or soak in the surrounds of our stunning restaurant and plunge pools. We have raised the camping experience by quite a few notches.”
