A new hospital is set to create about 60 jobs across nursing, administration, support services and management, strengthening the region’s growing healthcare workforce.
Located within the Noosa Specialist Medical Centre on Hofmann Drive, Noosa Day Hospital is Cura Day Hospitals Group’s 39th hospital nationally and its third day hospital on the Sunshine Coast.
For Stephanie Adams, CEO and director of nursing at Noosa Day Hospital, the opening represents more than a new facility.
“Noosa is a growing region with an active and ageing population, and demand for specialist healthcare services continues to increase,” Ms Adams said.
“We saw an opportunity to expand access to high-quality day surgery closer to home, giving local patients greater choice and convenience when it comes to their care.”
The hospital has been purpose built to accommodate a broad range of day surgery specialties, including ophthalmology, gastroenterology, general surgery, orthopaedics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery and pain management.
Additional services, including breast surgery and Mohs surgery (a minimally invasive option for skin cancer), are also being considered as the needs of the community evolve.
“For many patients, it means greater convenience and peace of mind,” Ms Adams said.
“Being able to access procedures such as cataract surgery, endoscopy or colonoscopy closer to home can significantly reduce the stress associated with healthcare, particularly for older patients and their families.”
Noosa Day Hospital is the first standalone multidisciplinary day hospital in the Noosa region.
“It’s something we’re incredibly proud of,” Ms Adams said.
“It represents a significant investment in the future of healthcare in the region.”

The hospital includes three operating theatres, seven first-stage recovery beds and 10 second-stage recovery recliner chairs, along with contemporary clinical and patient areas. There are 130 car parks, a dedicated patient drop-off area and ambulance bays.
Technology has been an important part of the design, with investment in operating theatres, integrated theatre technology and contemporary sterilisation systems.
The hospital adds to Cura’s existing presence on the Coast through Kawana Private Hospital and Sunshine Coast Day Surgery, creating opportunities for healthcare professionals to develop their careers within the region.
“Together, these hospitals create additional career pathways for healthcare professionals across the region, offering opportunities for development, collaboration and long-term career growth without needing to leave the local community,” Ms Adams said.
