The managing director of a prominent auto retailer says the Sunshine Coast is the ideal location to launch the first of many specialty stores across the country, and the site will also be used to trial a new auto-electrical fitting service.

The new-look Supercheap Auto Maroochydore is the retailer’s Australian showcase for its new Generation 5 format, featuring 15 new brands, almost 1000 new products and hands-on customer experience bays.

Customers will also be able to access professional 12V installation services on-site and have products such as spotlights, cameras and UHF radios fitted to their vehicles.

The Maroochydore store is the first site under a plan to roll out 80 ‘Genera on 5’ stores over 5 years, and the first national pilot site for the introduction of auto-electrical fitment.

Supercheap Auto managing director Ben McConnell said the location of first new format store reflected high demand from Sunshine Coast car enthusiasts, adventure and everyday drivers amid the region’s growing population.

“We know how passionate our customers on the Sunshine Coast are about taking care of their cars and kitting out their 4WDs and utes with the brands they love,” he said.

“We are excited to now be able to offer them an even greater range of products with professional auto electrical installation on from their local Supercheap Auto team.”

Mr McConnell said Supercheap Auto’s new format store would set a new benchmark for automotive retail.

“This exciting new format store will help us stock an even wider range of brands and products our customers want, particularly in the 4WD category,” he said.

“We know our 4WD customers are hugely passionate about their 4×4 and outdoor brands, and the new Genera on 5 store format will help us bring to life an expanded product range.

“The professional 12V electrical fitment trial will mean we can now fit equipment such as dashcams, towing mirrors and UHF radios, delivering customers both expert support and convenience.”
