A Sunshine Coast man is $100,000 richer after he discovered a forgotten Lucky Lotteries ticket in his wallet.

The Birtinya local claimed first prize in Super Jackpot draw 10954, three weeks after it was held on Thursday, April 3, and after a search for the winner was launched.

“It’s pretty amazing,” he said when it was confirmed.

“I’ve been in total shock and surprise since I checked the ticket at the newsagent.

“I can’t believe it took me so long to check my ticket.”

“I was completely oblivious beforehand.

“I usually register all my entries but this one was a quick entry I bought in a rush with some spare change.

“It wasn’t until I was clearing out my wallet the other day that I thought I should check my tickets.

“When I got the newsagency to check this one, they said ‘It looks like you’ve won something big’ and I said back to the guy ‘You’ve got to be sh*tting me’.

Several people have won Lotto prizes on the Sunshine Coast recently.

“I was completely blown away and shocked.

“There are a few things we want to do with the money. We’ll start by organising a holiday.”

He is the latest of several Lotto winners on the Sunshine Coast.

His entry was purchased at Stockland Birtinya.

Birtinya News and Gifts owner Jono Milligan said he was excited to hear his outlet had sold the winning ticket.

“We were so excited to hear that a customer won $100,000 on a ticket purchased here,” he said.

“It’s the first major prize-winning ticket we’ve ever sold since opening the store six years ago.

“We’re stoked that the winner has come forward and can now start enjoying their prize.

“On behalf of the entire team, we wish our winner a big congratulations and hope they have a great year celebrating.”

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws, one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licensed lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
