The Eumundi Golf Farm could be expanded to include a nine-hole, par-three golf course if the Sunshine Coast Council gives the nod.

Noosa pro golfer and golf teacher Jimmy Douris has applied for a boundary realignment to allow for the expansion of the Golf Farm, which already includes a nine-hole pitch and putt, a 300m driving range and a golf simulator.

A town planning report submitted with his application by Murray and Associates town planners indicates the course will make the most of the natural features of the land.

“There will be no importation of fill to facilitate the nine holes, just utilisation of the existing landform and topography in order to facilitate the proposed nine-hole layout,” the report says.

The report says the boundary realignment would mean that a watercourse would become the boundary between the Golf Farm and the neighbouring property.

The watercourse and would be rehabilitated, negating the need for a landscaping buffer required under the original approval, it says.

The proposed nine-hole, par-three golf course would run along the southern side of the property.

It goes on to say the proposal would have 80sqm less impact to natural vegetation on the property than the original plan, “representing a better ecological outcome”.

“Overall, the proposal will result in a significant improvement to the sites natural assets and will ensure the ongoing maintenance and protection of these assets,” it says.

The report says the proposed development was sensitively positioned to mitigate impact on adjacent properties.

“Overall, the siting, design, scale, intensity and nature of the proposed use is considered consistent with the purpose and overall outcomes of the Rural Zone Code and will effectively support the rural tourism sector of the region while maintaining the environmental values of the surrounding landscape,” it says.

The report says the existing approved parking at the Golf Farm should be sufficient as the nine-hole course was simply just another offering for customers.

The application is subject to public notification, which is open until August 8.

Mr Douris was contacted for comment on the expansion plan but had not replied at the time of publication.
