Australia’s number one bestselling young adult author, who hails from the Sunshine Coast, returned to her old school to share some writing wisdom.
Lynette Noni joined the line-up of the Voices on the Coast Youth Festival at Immanuel Lutheran College.
Ms Noni has attended a few times before and not only does she love talking about her award-winning books at the festival, but as a past student of Mountain Creek High she gets a kick out of meeting students from her old school.
It’s certainly encouraging for students to see the award-winning career path that Ms Noni has carved through the creation of her Young Adult novels.
Considering that Ms Noni is currently Australia’s number one young adult fiction writer, many of the students at the festivals have read her novels and because of this having a face-to-face meeting with her has a special relevance.
“You’re really human,” is one of the responses students have greeted her with.
In her early years, Ms Noni says becoming a young adult author was never a career goal.
“I studied journalism, academic writing and human behaviour at university,” she said.
Moreover, she wasn’t a particularly obsessed reader, rather it was the desire to “write the book that I wanted to read” that underpinned the start of her writing.
Her five-series set The Medoran Chronicles which she commenced in 2015, set the tone for her fantasy adventures past and future.
The success of these books has meant an ongoing demand for further novels and to satisfy her young readers, Ms Noni has become a prolific writer.
This year, fans will be pleased to know she has not one, but two books, being released.
The Prison Healers is coming out in April in Australia and the second book in the trilogy The Gilded Cage is promised to be out in October.
