All homes in a new residential development will feature solar and battery systems designed to generate enough renewable energy to meet household needs each year.
Ampere, a 190-terraced home village within its master-planned community Aura on the Sunshine Coast, is set to become developer Stockland’s first neighbourhood in Australia where homes are designed to achieve net-zero energy.
Each home in Ampere will include a solar and battery system designed to generate up to 120 per cent of household energy needs.
It’s expected to help residents reduce electricity costs by up to $2000 a year and up to four tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
Stockland senior development manager Genaea Keith said Ampere’s smart, future-ready design would help homeowners live more sustainably from the day they move in.
“Our customers are looking for smarter, more sustainable ways to manage everyday living, but it can be difficult to know where to start”, she said.
“At Ampere, sustainability isn’t something residents need to navigate later. Homes are designed from the ground up to be all-electric, with solar, battery storage and smart technology working together to help lower energy costs and make everyday living simpler.”
“The vision is to create an integrated energy ecosystem that helps residents generate, store and intelligently manage energy.”
Homes will also feature smart home energy management systems, smart electrical meters, digital water meters and EV-ready garages. Designed as all-electric homes, renewable energy can be used to power everyday essentials including cooking, hot water, heating and cooling.

Ampere will be located within the suburb of Banya. It will be less than 2km from the future Aura Town Centre and Aura Parklands, which are under construction.
Builder partners Thompson Sustainable Homes and NuTrend Homes will deliver the first release, with residents anticipated to move in from early 2027.
An 8-star energy rating, smart orientation and efficient all-electric systems will also help homes stay cooler in summer and warmer in winter while using less energy every day.
According to Ms Keith, Ampere reflects a fundamental shift in how new communities are being designed and delivered.
“Energy efficiency is the new baseline for modern living as Australians seek greater control over energy use and household costs,” she said.
“Ampere reflects the evolution of community design, delivering a fully integrated energy ecosystem with homes designed to produce, store and intelligently manage their own energy.”
RACQ Solar is supporting the delivery of the solar and battery systems for the precinct.
Company CEO Rob Chambers said it reflects their commitment to helping Queensland households transition to more sustainable, affordable energy.

Households will also receive three years subscription to EnergyFlex, a platform enabling residents to monitor and maximise household renewable energy usage.
CEO Garry Harding said access to dynamic usage insights will help residents build smart energy habits and choose the best electricity retail plan.
“Stockland’s approach at Ampere goes beyond the build, equipping homeowners with EnergyFlex so they can understand their energy use from day one,” he said.
