Tenders have been released for stage one of two new TAFE Centres of Excellence, including one on the Sunshine Coast, as part of a $138 million infrastructure project.
The facilities are part of the state government’s plan to deliver four new TAFE Centres of Excellence, with stage one now open for tender in Caloundra and Petrie.
The Caloundra facility will be built in the Sunshine Coast Industrial Park, and is scheduled for delivery by 2028, while the Petrie centre will be located at the Moreton Bay Central site.
A TAFE Centre of Excellence dedicated to construction and allied trades will be built in Caloundra, forming part of the broader investment in industry-focused training.
Together, the projects sit within the government’s $201.1 million investment in TAFE infrastructure, designed to deliver targeted training in construction, manufacturing and related trades.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said the project demonstrated a renewed focus on skills development in Queensland.
“They will set a new benchmark for TAFE facilities, providing students and apprentices with cutting-edge training environments tailored to the needs of industry and supporting the jobs of the future,” Ms Bates said.

Member for Caloundra Kendall Hatcher said the new facility would have a long-term impact on the local workforce.
“The Crisafulli Government is delivering a world class facility right here in Caloundra which is going to open doors for generations of future tradies,” Mrs Hatcher said.
