Police have charged a Sunshine Coast man after a custom-made disability scooter was allegedly stolen from the secure carpark of a business.

Police allege two men entered the carpark on Emporio Place, Maroochydore at about 6.30am on Sunday, June 21.

One of the men allegedly stole the disability scooter, which was used to transport an elderly couple and their dog.

On June 30, officers from Maroochydore general duties attended an address in Nambour to follow up inquires. There, they located the disability scooter and arrested a man.

A 32-year-old Nambour man has been charged with two counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence, one count of wilful damage and one count of receiving tainted property.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 6.
