A man has died and a five-year-old boy has been seriously injured in separate crashes on Sunshine Coast roads over consecutive nights.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a two-vehicle crash at Currimundi on Friday night.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Bellara Drive and Nicklin Way about 10.22pm on Friday following a collision involving a white Toyota Camry and a grey Mazda 3.
The driver of the Mazda, a 34-year-old Baringa woman, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
A five-year-old boy travelling in the Toyota suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Queensland Children’s Hospital, where he is in a stable condition.
The Toyota’s driver, a 46-year-old Southside man, is assisting police with their inquiries.
A 36-year-old Caloundra woman, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was not injured.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident, to come forward.
On Saturday night, a man died in a single-vehicle crash at West Woombye.
Police said a black Audi A6 sedan was travelling along Blackall Range Road about 11.50pm on June 27 when it left the road and collided with a tree.
The driver and sole occupant, a 43-year-old Mapleton man, was declared deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding both crashes.
