A charity that has spent more than two decades supporting vulnerable Sunshine Coast residents is preparing to open the doors of a purpose-built facility designed to bring all of its services together under one roof.

The Everyday Foundation will officially open its new community hub in Currie Street, Nambour in September, marking a significant milestone for the organisation.

The new facility will house a low-cost grocery store, emergency relief program, meal-support kitchen, cafe and the Hope Hampers Christmas initiative.

The foundation currently helps more than 1000 people each week through its low-cost grocery store on Howard Street, alongside its meal programs, school pantry initiatives and emergency relief services delivered from separate locations.

General manager Karen Gullo said the new building had been developed to better meet growing community demand.

“For more than 20 years we have been doing our work across different spaces, but this building is part of an exciting new future for The Everyday Foundation,” she said.

“Now, the thousands of families and individuals we support every year will be able to access all our services in one place.”

The facility is believed to be the first of its kind on the Sunshine Coast and was supported by a $1 million funding boost from the state government.

A community opening event is planned for September, with further details expected to be announced in coming weeks.

The Everyday Foundation is also seeking community support through its Fit Out Fund campaign, which allows supporters to purchase items needed to complete the facility’s fit-out.
