A man has been charged following an alleged armed burglary in the Noosa hinterland.

Police allege a man attended a home on Pines Avenue at Cooroibah about 8.25pm on May 20 and threatened a resident with a firearm.

A struggle allegedly broke out between the pair, during which the 51-year-old resident sustained minor injuries before the man fled the scene on foot.

The resident was taken to Nambour General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged.

Police arrested a 22-year-old man about 8.50pm outside a property on Morning Glory Drive, Cooroibah.

He was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment of a pre-existing injury.

Police also allegedly located the firearm in a bush outside a different property on Morning Glory Drive.

The 22-year-old man has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent whilst armed, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, possess thing intended for use in connection with offence under 419/421 of the Criminal Code prior to conviction of crime relating to property, unlawful possession of weapons category H – firearm used in indictable offence, fail to properly dispose of needle and syringe, trespass – unlawfully enter or remain in dwelling or yard, and authority required to possess explosive.

He is expected to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.

Police said investigations remain ongoing.
