A man has been taken into custody after an alleged armed break-in at a home left a resident injured.

It is alleged that 22-year-old man attended a Pine Avenue residence at Cooroibah on May 20, at about 8.25pm, and threatened a male resident with a firearm.

Police allege that a struggle ensued during which the resident sustained minor injuries, and the man fled the scene on foot and was located by police a short time later.

The 51-year-old resident was transported to Nambour General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police located a firearm and a 22-year-old man is in police custody.

A crime scene has been declared and investigations are ongoing.
