A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a serious crash involving an SUV at Palmwoods on Sunday night.

Emergency services were called to Woombye Palmwoods Road about 8.50pm following reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a grey Hyundai Tucson.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics assessed five people at the scene after the motorcycle and vehicle collided head-on.

The rider, a 20-year-old Towen Mountain man, suffered a broken wrist along with arm, leg and chest injuries. He was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment.

Earlier information from paramedics indicated the man’s injuries were potentially life-threatening.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 56-year-old Tewantin man, and his three passengers were assessed by paramedics but were uninjured and did not require hospital treatment.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident is urged to contact police.
