A man has died after being pulled from the water at a Sunshine Coast beach, marking the second drowning on the Coast this week.

Emergency services were called to Marcoola Beach about 1.42pm today after reports a swimmer had gone missing in the water.

The 62-year-old Chermside man was retrieved by rescuers before being assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service but was declared deceased a short time later.

Police said the death was not considered suspicious and a report would be prepared for the coroner.

The tragedy comes just days after another drowning on the Sunshine Coast when 18-year-old surf lifesaver Joe Tolano went missing while surfing at Buddina Beach.
