Police have released CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist in relation to incidents at a beach lifeguard tower.

About 2.40am on January 10 a man used the Surf Life Saving Queensland 24-hour emergency phone at the Wurtulla Beach lifeguard tower, at Beach Access 248 off Oceanic Drive, to report someone had been swept out to sea.

Lifeguards and police attended the scene and searched the area but no one was located.

Police and lifeguards were also called to the beach just before 3am on January 12 following a similar phone call. A subsequent search again failed to locate anyone.

Anyone who has any information or vision about either incident is urged to contact police.

This man or anyone who recognises him is asked to come forward.

A camera was installed on the beach in 2024 to monitor swimmer safety, five months after the lifeguard patrol there came to an end.
