A man’s appeal against a 2022 murder conviction has been dismissed by a Queensland court.

Gregory Lee Roser was found guilty of killing Nambour butcher Bruce Saunders on a rural property at Goomboorian near Gympie in 2017.

Roser and another man, Peter Koenig, were found to have disposed the body using a woodchipper.

Sharon Graham, who was found guilty of orchestrating the murder, was originally tried alongside him.

Partway through the trial, her case was split off after evidence emerged that could be “highly prejudicial”.

Roser argued on appeal that the jury may have drawn an adverse inference against him from the trial severance.

The Court of Appeal found the trial judge had provided comprehensive directions to the jury about how to use the evidence and dismissed the appeal, confirming Roser’s conviction.

He will serve a life sentence.

Graham will have an appeal hearing later this year.
