The Sunshine Coast’s largest indoor family entertainment and adventure centre is up for sale.

Rush Adventureland, owned by local businessman Jim Perry, is located in Sunshine Plaza, Maroochydore.

Perry, 72, said health and lifestyle reasons have led him to put it on the market after five years of operations.

“I live half here and half in Fiji, and own businesses in both, and it’s time to stop working so much and move into retirement,” Mr Perry, who has eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, told Sunshine Coast News.

“My children are actually putting a lot of pressure on me to slow down.”

Mr Perry built Rush Adventureland’s facilities with his son during the Covid pandemic as a pivot to an economic downturn in the building industry.

“My son and I used to own a construction company, and this was the first business that we built for ourselves,” he said.

“I really never intended to hold it as an investment for this long, but I did.”

The entertainment complex features a large three-level soft-play playground, Australia’s first indoor air coaster, high ropes, a ninja course, climbing walls, bumper cars, a dedicated toddler zone and an immersive sensory room.

“Where it’s unique is that it caters for children of all ages from one to 16,” he said.

“Many other franchise-type operations cater for children up to about six, and then they tend to get a bit bored.”

Rush Adventureland also boasts one of the largest kitchen facilities in the Plaza precinct, with a cafe seating 170 people.

Currently, Mr Perry’s twin daughters manage the centre, which is fully automated for an owner to oversee operations remotely – which he does.

“The family’s prepared to stay on if the new owners prefer, or if the buyer wants to take over management and marketing and supervision, they can do that as well,” he said.

The centre, which operates seven days a week, can host up to 364 children a day, with a 1:1 ratio for safety.

Mr Perry emphasised that a change of ownership would not affect customers.

“Nothing will change, if anything, it’ll get actually get enhanced,” he said.

“There are plans all prepared for the owner to do a refurb if they wish.”
