A fourth person has been charged in connection with the disappearance and alleged murder of a cybersecurity expert last year.

Brisbane father Andrew Burow vanished from an inner Brisbane apartment on August 24, before his badly beaten body was discovered north of the city at Maidenwell on September 2.

Police have alleged the 56-year-old was driven to as many as eight different locations and tortured before his death.

A 44-year-old Lake Macdonald man is the latest to be charged over the matter, with one count each of torture, deprivation of liberty and extortion.

He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 5 February following his arrest on Friday.

Three other men aged 26, 38 and 57 have already been charged with murder, kidnapping, extortion and misconduct with a corpse by interfering.

Police will allege the 26-year-old, North Lakes man Billy John Howard, and Mr Burow were known to each other.

Another of the men, 38-year-old Anthony Perrett, is a former CFMEU delegate who was named in an ongoing royal commission last year.

It was alleged at the inquiry that Perrett personally drove witnesses to interviews with union investigator Geoffrey Watson SC.

The witnesses were fitted with recording devices.

CFMEU administrator Mark Irving KC said it was an intimidation tactic designed to ensure witnesses didn’t “squeal”.

There is no suggestion the CFMEU is in any way connected with Mr Burow’s murder.
