The beer garden at an historic hinterland hotel has doubled in size while the footprint of its outdoor bar has almost tripled and now offers a window onto a working brewery.
Stage two of the $5 million renovation of the Imperial Hotel at Eumundi is now complete, with doors opening to the new beer garden with an 8m outdoor bar positioned directly alongside Eumundi Brewery.
The Comiskey Group, a Brisbane-based developer of hospitality venues, purchased the 113-year-old hotel in 2023, adding it to its portfolio of Queensland properties, which also includes The Doonan on the Sunshine Coast.
Stage one, which opened in September 2024, included a new front bar, dining area, gaming room and TAB, and a new band room opened in June.
In the construction pipeline is what the developer calls “the Coast’s largest hotel kids’ playground”, which is set to open in 2026.

Additional features of the latest reveal include a huge LED screen, an outdoor stage, a pool table laneway and a new kitchen and dining area. Guests can now also order a schooner and look straight into the working brewery through a glass viewing window beside the bar.
Director Rob Comiskey said the final stage of the renovation marked a major milestone for the venue.
“We know locals have been patiently waiting for the beer garden to return and we’re confident it’s been worth the wait,” Mr Comiskey said.
“It’s not only bigger, it’s got a timeless look that nods to the hotel’s rich history, and it’s built for atmosphere.

“With more local live music on a purpose-built outdoor stage and a new kitchen triple the size, we’ve truly elevated the experience all-round.”
