Man charged with multiple sex offences

Police have charged a man with further offences as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged sexual offences on the Sunshine Coast. Detectives on Monday More

Detectives are appealing to the public for further information as investigations continue into the alleged rape and serious assault of a woman at Amamoor.

Police will allege a man physically and sexually assaulted a woman, known to him, at a property where they both live, in separate dwellings, in October.

A 45-year-old Amamoor man has been charged with rape, attempted rape and serious assault of person over 60.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Gympie Magistrates Court on 19 January 2026.

Gympie CIB Officer in Charge Detective Acting Sergeant Kiel Duggen said detectives are appealing for potential further victims.

“Further investigations have indicated that the man may have been propositioning other women, who have previously resided at the property,” he said.

“We reasonably believe there may be more people that have been the victims of alleged sexual offences committed by the man, and not reported it to police.

“We are urging anyone who may have been a victim of this man to contact police.

“There are multiple ways to report what has happened, depending on your situation.

“Please be assured that we’ll treat you and your story with sensitivity, dignity and respect.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
