The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a serious traffic crash that occurred on Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Ben Lexen Drive and Eenie Creek Road, Sunshine Beach, about 11.40am following reports of a crash between a motorcycle and car.

The motorcycle rider sustained serious head injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.

No further information is available at this time.

It is the third serious crash involving a motorcycle in the region in less than a week.

A Palmwoods man, 70, died when his motorcycle and a vehicle collided at the intersection of Hunsley Road and Obi Obi Road, Kidaman Creek, just before 3pm last Thursday.

A New South Wales man, 54, was subsequently charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm but is yet to face court.

At about 10.20am that same day, a 47-year-old man suffered serious leg injuries when his motorcycle and a car collided at the intersection of Ball Street and Anzac Avenue, Maroochydore.

The accident is still under investigation.
