Monday, November 4, 12.15pm: Commuters on the Sunshine Coast line are enduring delays after a truck hit overhead powerline equipment early this morning.

The truck came into contact with the equipment at the Beams Road level crossing in Carseldine just after 5am.

Queensland Rail stated its actions.

“To ensure safety, we were required to immediately de-energise the overhead powerlines.”

“Our crews are onsite working as safely and as quickly as possible to get the lines back up and running.

“Services are suspended between Petrie and Northgate stations (rail replacement buses are in operation between Petrie and Northgate) with delays of up to 30 minutes for customers travelling in both directions on the Redcliffe-Peninsula, Caboolture and Sunshine Coast lines.”

Rail replacement buses have been in operation between Petrie and Northgate stations. 

Monday, November 4, 11.10am: Detectives from the Sunshine Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit have arrested a 12-year-old boy following an alleged stolen car incident in Nirimba yesterday, November 3.

Police allege the boy stole a Toyota Fortuner from a Nirimba property at about 5.30pm before crashing into a light pole near Central Avenue and North Village Drive a short time later.

No one was physically injured.

The boy was taken into police custody at the scene.

He has been charged with burglary, unlawful use of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving and obstruct police, and is due to appear in the Maroochydore Children’s Court today, November 4.

Sunday, November 3, 4.20pm: Paramedics have transported a patient with life-threatening head and back injuries to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a single-motorcycle crash on Donnybrook Road at Elimbah at 2.14pm.

Sunday, November 3, 1.20pm: The bushfire warning, to avoid smoke, at Coolum Beach has been cancelled. Fire conditions have eased. Crews are no longer required on scene at this incident.

Saturday, November 2, 5.25pm: One stable patient with facial injuries has been transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a bicycle incident on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Aerodrome Road at Maroochydore at 3.54pm.

Saturday, November 2, 2.50pm: A stable patient has been transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a vehicle and e-scooter incident on David Low Way at Bli Bli at 12.56pm.

Saturday, November 2, 2.50pm: One patient with a leg injury has been transported stable to Nambour Hospital following a fall from an e-bicycle on Mapleton Road at Nambour 12pm.

Saturday, November 2, 2.50pm:  One patient with an arm injury has been transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital and one patient declined transport after two motorcycles crashed on the Maleny Kenilworth Road at Conondale at 9.36am.

Saturday, November 2, 6.25am: One stable male patient in his 50s with a head injury was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a single-vehicle crash on Cooloobin Road at Yandina at  9.45pm.

Saturday, November 2, 6.25am: One stable male patient in his teens with a shoulder injury has been transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a motorcycle crash on Nicklin Way at Bokarina at 8.52pm.

Saturday, November 2, 6.25am: A bushfire warning, at advice level to avoid smoke was issued for Coolum Beach at 6.35pm last night. Smoke was affecting Coolum Beach and surrounding areas, from a hazard reduction burn near Yandina Coolum Road. The fire was under control. Update:

Friday, November 1, 2.05pm: One patient with significant potentially life-threatening head injuries has been transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a reported fall through a roof at a private address at Glenview at 11.29am.

Friday, November 1, 2.05pm: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for South-East Queensland.

A moist and unstable airmass combined with a southeasterly wind change moving up the coast is leading to the development of severe thunderstorms through the region.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours.

Friday, November 1, 9.40am: Tens of thousands of people are expected on Sunshine Coast beaches this weekend. Temperatures should range between 19 to 28 degrees Celsius, with a medium chance of showers with light southeasterly winds on Saturday and light northeasterly winds on Sunday. Surf Life Saving Queensland has reminded beach-goers to be wary of surf conditions. The best beaches to visit should be Kings Beach, Mooloolaba, Mooloolaba Spit, Alexandra Headland and Noosa Main Beach.

Friday, November 1, 9.40am: The bushfire warning at Coolum Beach and surrounding areas has been cancelled. Fire conditions have eased. Crews are no longer required on scene at this incident.

Friday, November 1, 6.20am: A stable female patient with neck pain was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a vehicle rollover on Illkley Road at Tanawha at 12.47am. 

Friday, November 1, 6.20am: Power has been restored to most of the properties that were impacted by a storm yesterday.

The storm packed some punch, with large hail recorded in the hinterland.

Friday, November 1, 6.20am: One stable male patient in his 40s was transported to Nambour Hospital following a single-vehicle crash on Elm Street at Cooroy at 6.54pm.  

Thursday, October 31, 6.20pm: Severe weather has led to power outages in parts of the Sunshine Coast.

Almost 4000 properties were without power. About half of them were at Cooroy. Others were at Lake Macdonald, Eumundi, Flaxton, Mapleton, Montville, Belli Park, Eerwah Vale, Obi Obi and more.

Thursday, October 31, 5pm: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of the Sunshine Coast.

The Bureau of Meteorology warned that, at 4.50pm, a very dangerous thunderstorm likely to produce destructive winds, giant hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Montville and Palmwoods.

It is forecast to affect Nambour and Mapleton by 5.05pm and Yandina and the area northwest of Mapleton by 5.20pm.

The next warning is due to be issued by 5.30pm.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the South-East Coast district.

Thursday, October 31, 5pm: A stable patient with a chest injury was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a vehicle and motorcycle crash on Caloundra Road and Parklands Boulevard at Little Mountain at 4.23pm.

Thursday, October 31, 3.35pm: Paramedics have transported one stable patient to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Queen Street at Caloundra at 12.37pm. Two other patients were assessed but have declined transport.

Thursday, October 31, 6.15am: Emergency services attended the scene of a structure fire on Currie Street at Nambour at 12.10am. No patients were reported.

There was a bushfire warning at Coolum.

Thursday, October 31, 6.15am: A bushfire warning, at advice level to avoid smoke, was issued at Coolum Beach and surrounding areas last night.

It was issued for an under-control hazard reduction burn at the intersection of Yandina Coolum Road and Quanda Road, Coolum Beach.

The fire is expected to continue on Thursday.

Wednesday, October 30, 4.25pm: Paramedics are on scene at Mount Beerwah with a patient who has sustained a minor ankle injury after a fall at Glass House Mountains at 1.57pm.

Wednesday, October 30, 9.15am: Police have charged a 23-year-old man with multiple offences after he was taken into custody on the Sunshine Coast yesterday.

Police will allege the man attended an address at South Ripley, near Ipswich, shortly before 8.30am and threatened the occupants with a handgun.

It will be further alleged he fled shortly afterwards in a stolen red Mazda 3.

The Mazda 3 was involved in a single-vehicle crash when it hit a pole along the Bruce Highway near the Mary River Road overpass in Cooroy just before 4pm.

The driver allegedly left the scene on foot and was taken into custody a short time later.

A search of the vehicle by police recovered various items of interest including ammunition.

The 23-year-old man, from Southport, has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent, attempted robbery (threaten violence armed), driving without a licence, driving UIL and possessing explosives.

He is due to appear at Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.

Wednesday, October 30, 7.45am: Paramedics have transported a stable patient with neck pain to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Caloundra Road at 6.40am. A second patient was assessed but has declined transport.

Tuesday, October 29, 10.25am: Paramedics have transported a motorcyclist to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a car and motorcycle crash this morning.

The male motorcyclist, who is in his 60s, suffered head, neck and chest injuries in the crash on Lamerough Parade and Landsborough Parade, Golden Beach, at 8.30am. He was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Police said the crash involved a Mazda 3 and a motorbike.

Tuesday, October 29, 7.15am: No patients were reported at a house fire on Doolan Court, Noosaville, at 1.39am.

Monday, October 28, 4.35pm: A bushfire warning, at advice level to avoid smoke, has been issued as smoke is affecting Beerburrum and surrounding areas. This is from a hazard reduction burn at the intersection of Beerburrum Woodford Road and Old Gympie Road. This fire is under control.

Monday, October 28, 4.35pm: Surf Life Saving Queensland is urging beachgoers to swim near patrols after a high percentage of rescues occurred outside the flags during the weekend.

SLSQ lifesaving manager Natalie Edwards elaborated.

“This weekend, our lifesavers performed 28 rescues across the state with 27 of those outside the flags,” she said.  We cannot stress enough that the best thing people can do to stay safe is swim in patrolled areas.”

A man drowned in a rip at Happy Valley during the weekend, when there were 20 rescues on the Sunshine Coast and 77 first aid treatments. More than 65,680 people converged on local beaches.

Monday, October 28, 6.55am: Paramedics assessed two patients on Palmwoods Montville Road at Palmwoods 7.10pm following a two-vehicle crash. One patient was transported in a stable condition to Sunshine Coast University Hospital and the other patient did not require transport.  

Monday, October 28, 6.55am: Emergency services attended the scene of a reported fire which affected multiple vehicles and structures on Caloundra Street and Dyer Street at Landsborough at 9.47pm. No patients required QAS assistance and paramedics were cleared around 11.30pm.

Sunday, October 27, 1pm: Paramedics transported two patients in stable conditions to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a two-vehicle incident on Sippy Downs Drive at 5.55pm on Saturday.

Sunday, October 27, 1pm: The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew airlifted a diver after an incident in Moreton Bay.

LifeFlight was tasked at 11.50am on Saturday after an EPIRB was activated with the multi-agency search involving the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSAR) and Coast Guard.

It’s believed a woman in her 20s was injured while spearfishing when her left leg made contact with a boat propeller.

Boaties pulled her aboard the vessel and administered first aid before she was transferred to a larger boat nearby and met by the Coast Guard.

She was then brought to Moreton Island where the LifeFlight helicopter was waiting.

The LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic treated the patient for significant leg injuries.

She was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
