A premier estate referred to as the ‘beating heart’ of Maroochydore is thriving as residents embrace its sense of community and central location.

Sunshine Cove is now home to about 2000 residents with nearly 900 properties built since the first stages of development began in 2006.

Located close to the emerging Maroochydore CBD, the estate has attracted first home buyers, families, downsizers, retirees and investors to create homes on the urban lots, terraces and waterfront blocks across 11 precincts.

Sunshine Cove Realty’s Penny Service said the most common comment she heard from residents was how much they enjoy living at Sunshine Cove.

“We meet a lot of people at the land sales office and it’s always rewarding when we see them again after they have built their home and moved in,” Ms Service said.

“They pretty much all say the same … they’re surprised by how much they love living here and how well living in this type of development works.

“They are no longer having to spend their time on the weekend maintaining large properties, people are out and about doing what they want to.”

Ms Service said a tight-knit community had flourished over the years with an active local residents’ association organising a range of regular activities to bring people together.

“It’s great walking around Sunshine Cove early in the morning or in the evening, you see everyone doing the same. Neighbours stop and chat or share a wave,” she said.

“The Sunshine Cove Residents Association do a great job bringing activities like Friday Nights in the Park, Easter and Christmas parties, book clubs, walking groups (and) coffee catch-ups.

“It really is all on offer, what you do is up to you.”

Bec Dolan moved to Sunshine Cove nearly 18 months ago from Melbourne.

“I love it here. I moved to Maroochydore because my boyfriend lives here and together we are sharing a house at Sunshine Cove,” Ms Dolan said.

“Honestly, Sunshine Cove has such a good feel to it and the central location is perfect for my job in property.

“I can be anywhere on the Coast in a relatively short drive. Compared to Melbourne it’s amazing and not being stuck in traffic gives me the chance to enjoy more of what the Coast offers.

“I’ve found so many great places to catch up with friends, I’ve also got a great gym and pilates studio right around the corner.”

Linda Robertson and her husband moved to Sunshine Cove from Alice Springs in June 2022 and said they were “loving it”.

“Our favourite thing about living in the Cove is the lifestyle, you have everything you could need at your door step,” Ms Robertson said.

“Our biggest surprise is how friendly all of the residents are as well as staff in the shops.

“We moved from Alice Springs, after being there for 40 years, so you can imagine the change it has been for us.”

Sunshine Cove, by Chardan Development Group, is a 106-hectare greenfill site on land that used to form part of Wises Farm.

The last remaining blocks of land are now for sale and Ms Service said now was the opportunity to secure a slice of what the Sunshine Cove lifestyle had to offer.

The remaining allotments, part of stage three of the Lancelin Precinct, feature an array of urban and terrace lots, plus waterfront blocks that include sweeping lake vistas.
