UPDATED: Monday, March 20, 7.45am: A female was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in a stable condition, for observation after a single-vehicle rollover reported on the Sunshine Motorway at Maroochydore at 5.36am.

Monday, March 20, 7.45am: A male was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition, with a head injury after an alleged assault at an address on Burgess Street at Kings Beach at 7.33pm last night.

Sunday, March 19, 8.15am: Multiple paramedics transported five patients to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a multi-vehicle crash on the Caloundra Road and Steve Irwin Way exit at Meridan Plains at 5.31pm yesterday. This included:

  • A man in his 60s stable with a foot injury.
  • A woman in her 50s stable with neck pain.
  • A woman in her 20s, who was initially entrapped, in a serious but stable condition with a head injury.
  • A woman in her 20s stable with neck pain.
  • A male primary school aged child stable with a significant leg injury.

Sunday, March 19, 8.15am: Paramedics attended a single-vehicle crash reported on Tunnel Ridge Road, Landsborough, at 12.40am on Sunday morning. A male with a significant leg injury was transported in a stable condition to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Friday, March 17, 9pm: A patient was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with a leg injury after a vehicle and bicycle incident on Cogill Road and Ballinger Road, Buderim, at 3.15pm.

Friday, March 17, 3pm: A person was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in a stable condition, after a motorcycle and vehicle incident on the Sunshine Motorway On Ramp at Mooloolaba at 1.53pm.

Friday, March 17, 9am: The Groovin the Moo music festival, which will make its debut on the Sunshine Coast in April, has announced two new big-name acts for the line-up.

Thursday, March 16, 4.10pm:  A person was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a two-vehicle crash on Maroochy Boulevard exit and Maroochy Road at Buderim at 2.47pm.

Thursday, March 16, 1pm: A person was transported to Nambour Hospital, in a stable condition, with a head injury after a fall from a bicycle on Poinciana Avenue at Tewantin at 10.09am.

Thursday, March 16, 10am: A senior constable from the North Coast Region – which covers the Moreton, Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay Burnett districts – has been served with a notice to appear for an alleged drink-driving offence.

The male officer allegedly returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.052 percent.

He has been stood down from duty with the Queensland Police Service and is expected to appear in Caloundra Magistrates Court on March 17.

QPS said in a statement: “In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct.”

Thursday, March 16, 8.20am: Two people were taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in stable conditions, for smoke inhalation after a fire on Brentwood Avenue at Mooloolaba at 7.26am.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said five crews attended a residential property, where the contents of a large container were ablaze.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus worked to remove the contents and there was also smouldering debris.

The fire was extinguished by 7.40am and crews underwent ventilation work because of the large amount of smoke. Crews also inspected nearby premises.

The extent of damage, and whether the container was inside or outside, was not yet known.

The Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Police Service were also in attendance.

Thursday, March 16, 8am: A person was taken to Nambour Hospital, in a stable condition, after a suspected snake bite occurred at Buderim at 6.46pm last night.

Thursday, March 16, 8am: A person was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a surfing incident off David Low Way at Coolum Beach at 4.15pm yesterday.

Thursday, March 16, 5.30am: Police have located a missing 13-year-old boy from Nambour safe and well.

Wednesday, March 15, 11.30am:  A heatwave could impact the Sunshine Coast in coming days. The Heatwave Service for Australia, via the Bureau of Meteorology, predicted a low intensity heatwave in the region from Thursday, March 16 to Sunday, March 18. Temperatures were expected to be in the low to mid 30s but it could feel hotter with a dew point up to 25 degrees Celsius and high overnight humidity.

Wednesday, March 15, 11.30am: Severe storms with heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hail are possible around South-East Queensland today. The Bureau of Meteorology said the Sunshine Coast hinterland was among the areas that could be affected. 

Wednesday, March 15, 10.30am: A patient with an arm injury was transported in a stable condition to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a fall from the back of a vehicle on Coolum View Terrace, Buderim, at 8.51am.

Wednesday, March 15, 8.50am: Two people were being assessed after a two-vehicle crash on Nicklin Way at Bokarina at about 8.30am.

Wednesday, March 15, 8.50am: Two people were taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in stable conditions, after a vehicle and bicycle incident on the corner of Mayfield Street and Alexandra Parade at Alexandra Headland 7.55am.

Wednesday, March 15, 6.40am: Two crashes overnight in Wurtulla saw separate patients taken by ambulance to nearby Sunshine Coast University Hospital. A stable patient with a back injury was transported after a two-vehicle collision on Peregrine Drive and Nicklin Way at 9.12pm Wednesday. In an earlier incident at 8.34pm, a stable patient was transported to SCUH after a single-vehicle crash on Piringa Street.

Tuesday, March 14, 2.25pm: Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a 13-year-old boy missing from Nambour since Sunday night.

The boy is believed to have travelled by train to Brisbane and was last seen on foot in Queen Street near the intersection of Adelaide Street in the CBD, and has not made contact with friends or family. Police hold concerns for his welfare due to his young age and his disappearance being out of character.

Police are appealing to the boy or anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact them.

Tuesday, March 14, 1.40pm: Police have released CCTV footage of missing 28-year-old Mermaid Waters man Edan Huntington in Montville in mid-January, and continue to appeal for a female witness seen nearby to come forward.

About 4.12am on Wednesday, January 18, Edan’s vehicle, a grey 2013 Ford Territory with NSW registration CQG59F, was parked in the middle of Main Street near the intersection of Hoffman Close after he left a nearby dwelling, driving off in a northbound direction towards Mapleton.

A woman, who may have witnessed or spoken to Edan, was seen around 100m away and is urged to come forward to assist investigations.

Edan Huntington was last seen in Montville in January.

She is described as being in her late 30s or early 40s, with dark long hair that was tied back, wearing a white shirt with maroon and purple shorts. She was also carrying a black bag.

Detectives continue to conduct extensive inquiries and search and rescue efforts, including the use of aerial assets and drones across Montville and surrounds.

Landholders including those with properties bordering Main Street, Flaxton Mill Road, Flaxton Drive, Philips Road and Obi Obi Road are urged to check their land including nearby road access points and recesses for signs of Edan and his vehicle, including in heavy undergrowth.

Edan is described as Caucasian, about 175cm tall with a proportionate build, brown hair and green eyes. Edan has tattoos on his right upper and lower arm. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, black shorts, white cap and is barefoot.

Tuesday, March 14, 1.05pm: Paramedics were at the scene of a single-vehicle rollover on McKinnon Drive at Cooroibah at 12.30pm. One person was entrapped in the vehicle.

The patient was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Tuesday, March 14, 11.15am: Noosa Council has extended the consultation period for the Eastern Beaches Foreshore Reserve Management Plan to March 31.

The extension aims to give ratepayers and other members of the community more time to provide feedback on the proposed plan.

Tuesday, March 14, 6.45am: Two men in their 20s were transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in stable conditions after a vehicle went about 50m over an embankment on Abbotts Road and Pummelo Circuit, Palmwoods, at 9.24pm last night. A third man in his 20s was also transported stable for an ankle injury unrelated to the crash.

Tuesday, March 14, 6.45am: New low-cost airline Bonza has opened its latest route, with inaugural flights from its home on the Sunshine Coast to Rockhampton launching last night.

Monday, March 13, 9.45am: Doris Humphris from Peregian Beach is today celebrating her 100th birthday.

Born on March 13, 1923, Doris came to Australia from England has been here ever since. She now resides at Arcare at Peregian Beach.

Her granddaughter Bree Logie said Doris had received a letter from the King and politicians around Australia.

Family and friends including her best friend Edna, who also resides at Arcare, helped Doris mark the occasion yesterday, with great-grandchildren Talo and Amali making her cards, and Jess from Sweet Celebrations Noosa making a rose cake with Doris’ favourite pink icing.

Monday, March 13, 7.50am: A teenage girl and a woman in her 20s were taken to Nambour Hospital, in stable conditions, after a single-vehicle rollover on Brockhurst Road and Duhs Road at Nambour at about 6.45pm last night.

Monday, March 13, 7.50am: There is a very high chance of showers and the chance of a thunderstorm today. Several locations received significant rain totals from 9am yesterday until this morning. Among them were Pelican Waters (73mm), Eumundi (78mm) and Coolum West (73mm). All properties that lost power, primarily at Noosa, have since had power restored.

Sunday, March 12, 6.10pm: Severe thunderstorms are no longer affecting the South-East Queensland area.

The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.

About 2298 properties were without power at Noosa Heads, Sunrise Beach and Sunshine Beach at about 6.20pm.

About 70mm of rain fell in the hour to 4.21pm at Imbil and about 70mm was recorded in the hour to 4.51pm at Bells Creek North, while about 52mm was recorded in 30 minutes to 3.47pm at Eumundi.
