Santa knows his way around a sleigh but what about a surf boat?

Jolly old Saint Nick is set to make an impressive entrance onto the shores of Mooloolaba Beach, when he arrives for a special occasion on Christmas Eve.

In what has become a local tradition, Santa will ride the surf into the beach in front of Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club at around 5.30pm.

He’ll bring a sack full of treats for the children and stop for a visit and photos before he sets off on his big flight later that night.

Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club will also put on a fireworks display at 7.15pm.

A festive occasion at the beach.

Santa has visited Mooloolaba Beach on Christmas Eve for the past 60 years.

This long-standing tradition is an initiative organised by Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club’s volunteers and is a family-friendly event that locals and visitors to the region look forward to.

“Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club is proud to host this community event every Christmas Eve,” club president Matthew Horder said.

“Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year and we are honoured that Santa Claus makes time to visit us on his busiest night.

A huge crowd is expected to again attend the Christmas Eve tradition.

The club is celebrating 100 years of community service this summer.

To commemorate, it has released a limited edition 100 Years Centenary book.

There will also be a first patrol re-enactment and beach party on January 14  and the events will culminate with a Gala Black Tie dinner on May 6.

The club has grown to include more than 1425 Members.

The Surf Club, Mooloolaba Supporters Club, has more than 50,000 members.
