Elderly residents who had to move out of an outdated care centre now have bright, new homes in an upgraded nearby facility.

Former residents of the McGowan Care Centre at Sundale’s Nambour Garden Village have moved into the James Grimes Care Centre, which is undergoing a significant internal upgrade.

Sundale CEO Helen Sharpley said many of McGowan’s former residents now lived in refurbished rooms.

“It was a significant internal upgrade which included floors, joinery, light fittings and paint,” she said.

“The million-dollar internal facelift ensures every resident can have their own private room if they choose.

“I’ve spoken to a number of residents at James Grimes Care Centre and they are thrilled with the upgrades to their rooms.

“They’re light, bright and have plenty of space.

“This, coupled with our amazing team of carers, nurses and lifestyle coordinators, means residents receive unmatched care.”

The extensive renovations at James Grimes Care Centre coincided with the closure of McGowan Care Centre after 52 years of service.

Sundale is a community based, not for profit, retirement and care centre organisation that supports the needs of its community via outstanding care and assistance services.
