A rapidly growing Sunshine Coast-based law firm has made another key appointment.

Travis Schultz & Partners has engaged Stephen Hughes as a senior lawyer.

Mr Hughes, who has been a Personal Injury Accredited Specialist since 1998, bringsĀ  experience in making a difference in the lives of people struggling through personal adversity.

He said he was driven to help clients feel optimistic and empowered while navigating their personal injury claim.

ā€œApart from achieving optimal financial settlements for my clients, what I love about my work is helping vulnerable people feel listened to, included and hopeful as we manoeuvre the legal process together,ā€ he said.

Travis Schultz & Partners Chief Operating Officer, Kelly Phelps, said Mr Hughesā€™ addition to their almost 40-strong team increased the breadth and value of the service the Queensland firms brings.

The firm’s team has grown significantly since it opened with just two lawyers and three support staff on the Sunshine Coast in 2018.

ā€œSecuring someone with so much experience in both personal injury and workplace relations law is a real credit to our firmā€™s reputation for being a great place to work,” Ms Phelps said.

“Iā€™m sure our clients and everyone at TSP, especially our rising stars, will benefit from having Stephen aboard.

ā€œAs well as being genuinely enthusiastic about compensation law, Stephen is a warm and generous person who clearly aligns with our guiding values of fairness, respect and compassion.

“We are thrilled to welcome him to our fast-growing team.”

Stephen Hughes has joined a fast-growing team.

Since being admitted to the Queensland Supreme Court in 1991, Mr Hughes has enjoyed a diverse career in compensation law and employment law, most recently as a Principal Lawyer with an award-winning and nationally-recognised specialist workplace relations firm.

Last year, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of national peak body the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors, having served as an Honorary Board Member and Legal Counsel since 1993.

Other service roles include 10 years as Director and Secretary of Volunteering Gold Coast Inc and current membership of the LAWASIA Executive Committee on Employment and Labour Law.

When not at work, Mr Hughes likes spending time with his daughter and indulging in art collecting, travel and bushwalking.

TSP was founded four years ago, with the aim of doing compensation law differently, offering cutting edge expertise, without the price tag.

It now boasts six, and soon to be seven, Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialists, working from offices in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Cairns.
