Two of Queensland’s most talented young tennis players are poised to take the next big step in their development.

Sunshine Coast Grammar School students Connor McEvoy and Aiden Serifovic have been selected for the Under-13 National Boys Tennis Camp ‘Doubles the Australian Way’, being held in Sydney.

The event, organised by Tennis Australia, will be important for selecting a national team for the under-14 world championships.

Head tennis coach at Sunshine Coast Grammar, Clint Fyfe, said the camp would provide a great opportunity for the duo.

“It is great for Connor and Aiden to be rewarded for their hard work and improvement,” he said.

“The boys are excited to get together with the other leading players in Australia. as there haven’t been many opportunities for them to train and compete at a national level the last couple of years due to COVID.”

The camp will coincide with Australia’s Davis Cup tie against Hungary and both players will have the opportunity to interact with the national team and take inspiration from their matches.

Connor McEvoy is the No.1 ranked under-13 player in Queensland.

Connor, who is the No.1 ranked under-13 tennis player in Queensland, said he was looking forward to seeing the professional players train and compete.

“Especially Alex de Minaur and Thanasi Kokkinakis,” he said.

“I want to learn from them and improve my doubles skills.”

Aiden was also looking forward to the camp.

“I am excited to be chosen and to have the opportunity to play alongside the Davis Cup team,” he said.

“My dream is to one day be part of the Australian Davis Cup team.”
