The arts industry has been one of the hardest hit during the pandemic, but the Australian Wearable Art Festival’s Halloween Fundraiser could be the region’s social event of the year.
More than half of the tickets have already been sold for the October 30 event, as restrictions ease and venues reopen for business.
Diablo Oasis, located at the iconic Big Pineapple, will play host to an estimated 350 party-goers.
“With the challenges the event landscape has endured over the past 18 months, we were more than happy to come on board as a major sponsor for the AWAF’s Halloween Fundraiser,” Diablo Oasis owner Dimitris Limnatitis said.
“Not only does our venue boast the perfect open space for the event, it’s also easily accessible to many people living on the Sunshine Coast.
“We have created a signature cocktail for the event, but will also have a full range of beer, wine and spirits on offer.”
AWAF curator Wendy Roe encouraged attendees to let their imaginations run wild and dress in their Halloween-best for the fundraiser.
“The event’s Master of Ceremonies, Mix FM’s Todd Widdicombe and Sami Muirhead, have had the final touches put on their costumers, which were made by local designers Denise Lamby and Larissa Salton,” Ms Roe said.
“Everyone loves getting dressed up for Halloween and this event provides an exclusive party atmosphere where wearable art will be in the spotlight and fashionistas can show their support for local artists who have been doing it tough.”
While it’s been a challenging 18 months for many businesses across the Coast, AWAF said the support they’ve received from the local community has been humbling.
“We’ve seen a range of auction items donated from accommodation packages to a river cruise, our community has really stepped up to support our cause,” Ms Roe said.
Fresh off the stage at the Caloundra Music Festival, Raw Ordio is expected to keep crowds entertained well into the night.
“Raw Ordio and his amazing line-up of musicians have hit the ground running this year. We know how highly requested he is, so we’re extremely excited to have him on board,” Ms Roe said.
Foodies will also have something to look forward to, with flavour makers from around the region setting up shop for the event.
“Everything from Vietnamese to Italian will be on offer with our full flavour line up featuring food creators from across the Coast,” Ms Roe said.
All funds raised on the night will go towards supporting the much-anticipated Australian Wearable Art Festival’s Gala.

“The Halloween Fundraiser will be AWAF’s biggest fundraiser ahead of the Gala to be held in May … and provides an exciting opportunity to get a sneak peak of new work from wearable artists, raise dollars for our arts community and have a pretty awesome party at the same time,” said Ms Roe.
This Halloween Fundraiser is an 18+ event.
