UPDATE

The search continues for a mystery $2 million Gold Lotto winner.

The successful entry for Saturday’s draw 4177 was purchased at Nambour Village News, and officials from The Lott are still waiting for the ticket-holder to come forward and claim their prize.

“We’re still on the hunt for our elusive Sunshine Coast winner who may be completely unaware they’re now a multi-millionaire,” The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said.

He said the lockdown may have contributed to a slower-than-usual response.

“While most of our winners discover their major prizes within the first week or two of the draw, we’re sure this winner would rather know sooner rather than later.”

“That’s why we’re urging anyone who purchased a ticket from Nambour Village News to check their tickets today.

“With lockdown we know routines have been disrupted, but tickets can be checked at any The Lott outlet, online at thelott.com or via The Lott app.

“If you think you’re holding this valuable ticket, give us a call on 131 868 and we can start the prize claim process.”

Fortunately, the winner has seven years to collect the prize.

“However, I’m sure this Saturday Gold Lotto winner won’t want to wait to get their hands on this prize once they realise their good fortune,” Mr Hart said.

Nambour Village News manager Danielle Parkinson said she “burst out crying” with joy when she was told the winning entry was sold at the store.

She said “it’s a waiting game” for the winner to come forward.

“It will be life changing for them … and especially if it’s a local in Nambour, with the current situations with lockdowns and people struggling a bit financially.

“I think it’s such a great, feel-good story for the town.”

Ms Parkinson said had been talking to customers last week about “how amazing it would be to sell a Division 1 (winning ticket) … and it actually happened.”

“I thought let’s be positive and say it will happen, and it did.”

Nambour Village News manager Danielle Parkinson said the stunning win had come as the newsagency celebrates five years.

EARLIER

A Nambour resident or visitor has started the week a multi-millionaire after scoring division one in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto Superdraw, they just don’t know it yet.

The mystery winner held one of the 10 division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4177, on July 31. Each won $2 million.

However, the entry is unregistered, which means officials from The Lott have no way of contacting them to break the life-changing news.

Instead, they’re waiting for the ticket-holder to come forward to claim their prize.

The winning entry was purchased at Nambour Village News, Nambour.

Nambour Village News manager Danielle Parkinson said she had been dreaming of selling a division one prize for five years.

“It feels absolutely amazing to sell a division one prize. It’s all I’ve ever wanted,” she shared.

“I got goosebumps and started crying when I read that I had sold a division one prize. I rang my parents, who own the store, and they were over the moon.

“It’s funny actually. I had a dream that I had sold a division one winning ticket and look what happened.

“It has come at a perfect time as well. It was our five-year anniversary owning the store yesterday. What an amazing celebration.

“Besides selling a 1st Prize in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot two years ago, this is our first division one prize sold at the store, and we hope it is the start of a winning streak.

“Nambour is such a small and lovely community town. I’m so happy for the winner, and hope they check their ticket soon. I would like to thank them for choosing our store, and a big congratulations to them.

The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell was eager to unite Nambour’s latest division one winner with their life-changing prize.

“It’s highly likely this winner has been going about their day as normal, with no idea they’ve just won $2 million,” she said.

“We’re urging all players who purchased a Saturday Gold Lotto ticket from Nambour Village News to check their tickets.

Do you have a winning Gold Lotto ticket in the wash?

“Imagine how exciting it would be to realise you’ve just won $2 million. Your plans for the rest of the week, month and even year would certainly change with an extra two million in hand.

“Make sure to check your ticket, which could be hiding anywhere in your wallet, handbag, fridge door, bedside table or car glovebox. The winner could be you, and you could be planning what to do with your prize right this moment.

“If you discover you are holding the winning ticket, contact The Lott on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”

The winning numbers were 32, 41, 13, 16, 33, 18, while the supplementary numbers were 9 and 19.

There were 10 division one winning entries in the draw on Saturday, two each from Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania, and four from New South Wales.

In 2020, Saturday Gold Lotto created 122 millionaires across Australia.
