Former Immanuel Lutheran College student Abigail Kadel was recently celebrated and applauded by the school community for being this year’s recipient of the Vic Walker Memorial Scholarship.

The community also recognised the Walker family for its generous donation of the scholarship, now in its 22nd year.

Abigail, last year’s Social Justice Captain, is studying a Bachelor of Business (Management) degree at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) and impressed the selection panel with a number of attributes most prized by the Walker family, including generosity, dedication and commitment.

The scholarship, first presented in 2000, was founded by Mrs Walker, daughter Wendy (1989) and son Drew (1993) in memory of husband and father Vic Walker who established Moby Vic’s service stations on the Sunshine Coast.

Year 12 Immanuel graduates who undertake to complete their degrees at USC are eligible to apply in the year following their Year 12 graduation.

The scholarship will cover Abigail’s first year of HECS fees, which is an enormous financial boost for any university student.

The scholarship is an outstanding contribution to the community by the Walker family.
