Jazz N Blues Sunday

Jazz and Blues Collective Maroochydore is holding its next Jazz N Blues Sunday event on the March with crowd favourite The Session Band and special guest Cherryn Jane Bray. The Session Band is a group of highly skilled musicians who are individually recognised as  some of the best performers in the country. The band is highly versatile and always fun and can perform Dixie, Swing, Modern Jazz, Latin, Rock, Pop and Country. Members are Russell Bayne (guitar), Peter Uppman (trumpet and vocals), Pat Robbins (drummer and vocals), Jo Hawthorne (keyboard) and Cherryn Jane Bray (special guest vocalist).  The event is BYO licensed (plastic cups only).

When: Sunday 7 March from 1.30pm to 4pm (doors open 1pm)

Open Studios Week of Workshops

Open Studios Sunshine Coast invites everyone to discover the rich and diverse talents of local artists through the region, visiting established and emerging artists in their own creative spaces. This year’s event goes a step further, offering the chance to immerse yourself in workshops to learn, speak and create with artists who are excited to demonstrate and share their methods, media and ideas and insights. Art lovers and creators of any level, and even kids, are welcome to get involved.

Noosa alive! Sunshine Festival

Noosa alive! is serving up affordable family fun at the Sunshine Festival as part of the Noosa alive! Reignite 2021 program of events. The group has created a wonderful festival program that includes all the colour and excitement that’s been missing these past 12 months. Circus Tribe street performers, face painters, hands on crafty fun and all your favourite festival foods are bound to excite the kids. Festival goers will be treated to live music performances by Mason Hope, Lizzy Lamborn and Nyssa Ray on the quirky stage reminiscent of old world gypsy wagons.

Sunshine Coast MS Swimathon

The Sunshine Coast MS Swimathon is back. Get ready to dive in and make a splash to fight MS. Take on the challenge of a 12-hour team swimming relay and help raise vital funds for Queenslanders living with multiple sclerosis (MS). Although it is a challenge, you don’t need to be a competitive swimmer to participate – people of all abilities can join in and take part. You can swim any style or distance that suits you; whether it be 1 or 100 laps in freestyle, breaststroke, sidestroke, or doggy paddle, it is all about participation!

Sunshine Coast Chi Kung Retreat

This is a nourishing Chi Kung Retreat that is designed to give you easy to learn techniques to increase the health of your body’s energy reservoirs (great for increasing adrenal energy). This will be experienced through practicing simple Chi Kung forms and meditations. This retreat is open to all – no previous experience required, it is about learning techniques you can perform at home to stay healthy. The 90s was great, that shouldn’t be a controversial opinion. Whether you lived through the decade or wished you did, this late-night shindig will indulge your retro urges. After huge sell out nights all over Australia, No Scrubs finally lands in Mooloolaba for the first time in over a year. They’re bringing 90s and early 00s tunes plus good vibes to the dance floor and playing all the best anthems and bangers from the 90s through to 2009.

Sweet Thunder For Sunshine Coast Jazz Club

Sweet Thunder Jazz Orchestra traces the development of the big band from the 1920s to the present day. Their repertoire includes works by Ellington and Morton, and performances of the music of the great bands and their arrangers, such as Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Fletcher Henderson, Thad Jones and Neal Hefti. It also features some of today’s masters, such as John Clayton and Gordon Goodwin. Sweet Thunder will be presenting ‘100 Years of the Big Band’ at Caloundra Power Boat Club for the Sunshine Coast Jazz Club.

Singing Bowl Workshop Caloundra

Join Elle for this special 3hr workshop learning how to play, use, benefit and utilise as a healing tool your crystal singing bowls. This includes sound healing, using the bowl in yoga classes, essential oils and frequencies, and sound bath techniques. You will receive a crystal singing bowl to take home with you and have the opportunity to buy a whole set or a few to add to your collection on the day.
