Two of Australia’s leading playwrights will discuss writing, creativity and contemporary theatre as part of a 10-day festival launching in Noosa on Friday.
Suzie Miller, whose play Prima Facie became an international stage success, will join David Williamson AO for a breakfast and in-conversation event at Peppers Noosa Resort on July 26, the festival’s closing day.
The appearance comes as Ms Miller prepares for the premiere of her new play, Strong Is the New Pretty, next month.
The festival program also includes the world premiere of Mr Williamson’s new play, Coping With Winter, starring Erik Thomson, Renai Caruso and Janneke Williamson.
Queensland Ballet will present a performance during the festival, while a gala opera dinner at Elysium Noosa Resort will feature performers from Divina and guest tenor Shannon Leonard.
The annual Film with Food event will screen the comedy-drama Big Night, with a menu inspired by the film prepared by chefs Matt Golinski, Josh Smallwood and Glen Barratt in partnership with Slow Food Noosa.
The literary program features appearances by Bryan Brown, Maggie Beer AO, Amy Remeikis, Louise Milligan, Rosalie Ham, Blanche d’Alpuget, Kerry O’Brien and Mike Carlton.
The music program includes performances by classical guitar duo the Grigoryan Brothers and Ursula Yovich’s tribute show Ursula Yovich Sings Nina Simone. Cabaret productions Songbirds and Olivia, celebrating the music of Olivia Newton-John, are also on the program.

A new Hinterland Gourmet Long Lunch will be held at Alsahwa Estate, while the Stars Alive! talent showcase and family fun day will feature emerging performers from across the Coast.
The festival will present approximately 30 performances involving more than 150 artists and 70 production crew across multiple venues in Noosa. Tickets are on sale through the festival website.
