A popular Asian fusion restaurant is set to branch out on the Sunshine Coast.

Junk, which has an eatery on Ocean Street in downtown Maroochydore, is poised to open its second venue in the region, at suburban Sippy Downs.

It will be located on the corner of Fairfax Street and Sippy Downs Drive, in the Devcon Building Group’s mixed use HQ development, which includes 30 one and two bedroom residences as well as commercial and retail space.

Owner Scott Hoskins said the expansion was “really exciting”.

“We feel it (Sippy Downs) is an emerging part of the Coast, which deserves to have a more diverse range of dining options,” he said.

“We’ve got a fantastic brand new 239m2 site, which can accommodate up to 130 seats, so it’s essentially the same size as Junk Ocean Street with lots of onsite parking as well.”

“We are located right opposite Sienna College within the heart of the Sippy Downs Town Centre and a short walk from University of the Sunshine Coast and several public and private schools as well as large employment hubs such as Youi.

“We also have 30 new full and part time roles to fill which will hopefully be taken up by University and high school students as well as other people looking to live and work within their local community.

“We are particularly pleased to be working with a secure and reputable local developer in Devcon Property Group, who have had a long association developing on the Sunshine Coast.”

Junk opened on Ocean Street in 2014 and built a reputation for providing customers with a fast, fresh and affordable Asian dining option in the bustling precinct.

Mr Hoskins said diners at the new restaurant could expect to enjoy the same level of high-quality Asian-inspired dishes.

“We like to think our food compares with any Asian style restaurant in most Australian capital cities and we’re now bringing it to Sippy Downs seven days a week from February,” he said.

A range of roles are on offer from cooks, kitchen hands and front of house staff, to apply for the current roles available at Junk Sippy Downs, please email scott@junksunshinecoast.com.au.
