Penthouse living appears to be as popular as ever, especially at one beachside suburb.

Luxurious oceanside apartments continue to attract top dollar, despite property prices falling across the country after two years of boom.

A 222sqm penthouse at a renowned beachfront resort at Mooloolaba was purchased for $2.1m on Friday evening, before it was due to go to auction the next day.

Define Property Sales Consultant Jordan Barden said deluxe apartments on the esplanade were highly sought after.

“There is no sign of a downturn at all in the market for units, along the front at Mooloolaba,” he said.

“If anything, it looks like it’s still going up in the lead-up to Christmas, as people look to secure their next holiday home.”

Mr Barden said buyers were desperate to secure their slice of paradise by the sea.

“The beach is your backyard at Mooloolaba and that can never be replaced,” he said.

“Listings that are there draw a lot of interest.”

No.101/13 features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, two car spaces, a private rooftop area with spa and 360-degree views.

Views for as far as you can see.

It’s one of eight penthouses at well-known two-building Peninsula Beachfront Resort, which is described as being synonymous with Mooloolaba.

It’s 50m from the recognisable Loo with a View and the main beach.

“It (the resort) is probably the most iconic building along the front, for holidaymakers who pinpoint Mooloolaba,” Mr Barden said.

“Everyone you chat to, from interstate, knows where that building is due to its location and its views, being right on the beach.

“You can walk to everything.”

Properties of all sorts were sold pre-auction during a property boom last year.

That trend has tempered amid houses but beachfront apartments are still quick to sell.

No. 101/13 went for a record price for that style of apartment within Peninsula. It is one of four with great views and there are another four with even better views.

It was sold by an older couple to a farming couple from western Queensland, who will use the space as a holiday home when they’re not letting it.

“The clientele for that style of property along the front is mostly farmers, from out west, who want a holiday home,” Mr Barden said.

Meanwhile, Buderim agents Nicholl & Young are poised for their biggest auction day ever.

They will auction eight properties on Wednesday, November 23.
