Holidaymakers will be able to enjoy a big taste of the Coast this Easter with three long weekends in a row, and schools holidays staggered with Victoria and NSW.

To top it off, visitors and locals will delight in new twists at their favourite major attractions.

The Ginger Factory, Aussie World, and Bellingham Maze (now Amaze World) have invested heavily in new facilities and experiences, while Australia Zoo and Sealife have special activities for the school holidays.

The Ginger Factory on Monday launched a new gelateria and dessert bar, which has been named Gingerlati’s, just in time for Easter treats.

So far, there is still accommodation available on the Coast for week one, with forward bookings for accommodation currently sitting about 70 per cent.

Andrew Fairbairn, from Visit Sunshine Coast, said holidaymakers now tended to book last minute, so occupancies could quickly pick up 10 per cent or more.

“Having the Queensland school holidays in April staggered with Victoria and NSW makes it a three-week holiday block, with three long weekends in a row making it a sustained period for attracting both intra and interstate travel to the Sunshine Coast,” he said.

The long weekends are Easter Monday and Anzac Day in April and Labour Day in May.

“The second week of the holidays leading into the Easter long weekend occupancies are already well over 80 per cent and there is very little availability via the major booking channels,” Mr Fairbairn said.

“What does seem apparent is that families are largely sticking to domestic holidays at this point, and with the Sunshine Coast’s emphasis on nature and open spaces, we are a very highly sought-after destination.”

The situation with camping is likely to be even stronger, with many of the holiday parks already full.
