The most curious question I have been asked in many years was lobbed my way this week.
My daughter wanted to know what the most comfortable chair I had ever sat on in my entire life was. An odd, yet captivating, conversation followed.
I have thought about this question all week, and I can tell you, it’s been a rabbit hole.
The joy of sitting in a really great chair is truly underrated in life.
A true love when it comes to seats is my Mimi’s big recliner. It is padded with a crochet rug. I let out a physical groan of happiness when I flop back into it and kick up my legs in retreat.
The chair, of course, comes with memories of the smell of beautiful food cooking on the stove and the feeling of being warm and safe.

There is a bench at Point Cartwright I often sit at and just stare at the beautiful river. I sat on this bench as I walked my dogs on the day my husband proposed to me and also on the day I laid my father to rest.
My children have all sat on this same bench during the past 15 years as we rode, scootered or toddled out towards the ocean to watch the massive waves and inhale the fresh salt air.
Then there are the Gold Class seats at the movies. This is my favourite thing to do. It is hard to beat lying back on those huge chairs, while being served wine and choc-top ice creams during the movie. This is a celebration chair.
All this chatter about such a simple thing also got us talking about the opposite. The seats we hate (like I said, rabbit hole).
A cramped seat on a plane is about as bad as it gets. A dodgy public loo seat? No thanks.
Remember those tiny wooden chairs we had in primary school? They were the pits.
While these are bad, they pale in comparison to the dreaded middle-back seat of the car!
Anyone who is the youngest of three like me will know why I am scarred by this.
To this day, my older sister assumes she has the right to the front seat of a car if we are travelling together. Infuriating.
Thankfully, as an adult, I have my own car and I can drive to Gold Class.
