“Things can change in a day. A day can change in a season. A season can change a life.”
This quote by the author of The God of Small Things sums up my state of mind.
Spring has sprung and I am obsessed with my flowering yesterday, today and tomorrow plant. It’s royal purple.
White and lavender petals burst with colour and sweet perfume, and I adore the symbolism of each colour representing a stage of life.
There is much change in my life at the moment.
The end of primary school for my youngest, Augie, is nearing.
I remember weeping as I said goodbye to my eldest child, Avalon, 11 years ago on the first day of prep, and it turned out to be the start of an era I have cherished.
It has also passed in the blink of an eye, and now, all three kids are nearly done with primary school.
I love hearing about their days, filled with library, art and playtime. I am bewitched as they chatter away with simple stories full of innocence and enthusiasm.

I love the last day of each term as we head to get a slushie to start the holidays.
I love the beautiful teachers who care for our second heartbeats with such warmth.
I love the days mums are invited to the classroom to have a ‘pedicure’. I love the parents I am great friends with, as we witness our children growing up before our eyes.
It makes me acutely aware I cannot freeze time and keep my babies close to me forever. It has been a sheer delight.
The end will sting my heart.
In other change, my daughter is nearly 16 and will begin to drive soon, my husband has a new job, my mum is 85 and we are desperate for her to move closer to us as quality time ticks away, and our house is undergoing a massive renovation.
It truly is the season of change but is it for better or worse?
I remind myself I am blessed, however, to have laugh lines around my face and a heart and head full of glorious memories.
Yesterday and today have been largely bliss. There has been sadness, of course, but it has made the wins even sweeter.
Here’s to tomorrow and may it bring more happiness to us all.
