Heavy smoke from a hazard reduction burn is affecting parts of the southern Sunshine Coast, with the smell reaching coastal areas of Caloundra.
The Queensland Fire Department issued an advice warning at 3.32pm on Wednesday for Peachester and surrounding areas.
The department said smoke was coming from hazard reduction burning between Old Gympie Road and Peachester Road, near Beerwah.
People affected by the smoke are being urged to leave the area, while those in areas where the smoke is thick have been advised to stay inside and close windows and doors if it is safe to do so.
The department warned the smoke could make it difficult for some people to breathe and could cause health issues.
It could also reduce visibility and affect roads, with motorists potentially needing to use a different route.
Those who need medication to help them breathe should keep it nearby, while anyone worried about their health should contact a doctor or 13 HEALTH on 13 43 25 84. Triple zero should be called in an emergency.

The department has also asked people not to fly drones around the fire because they can affect firefighting operations.
