Japanese apparel giant Uniqlo has announced plans to open its first Sunshine Coast store, bringing one of the world’s largest fashion brands to Sunshine Plaza later this year.
The new outlet, scheduled to open in spring, will be the retailer’s seventh Queensland store, and is expected to strengthen Sunshine Plaza’s position as the region’s premier shopping destination.
Uniqlo Australia chief operating officer Satoshi Naito said the expansion reflected the company’s confidence in the Queensland market and growing demand for its products.
“Thanks to the amazing support from our beloved customers in Queensland, we are pleased to announce our new store opening this spring at Sunshine Plaza,” he said.
“We are very grateful for the loyal support of Queensland customers since first opening here in 2016. Now, our team looks forward to bringing Uniqlo LifeWear, known for its beautiful design and high quality, to even more customers through the new Sunshine Plaza store.”

The retailer will occupy a nearly 777-square-metre tenancy on a single level at Sunshine Plaza, offering its full range of clothing for men, women, children and babies.
The investment is a significant retail win for the Sunshine Coast, with the arrival of a globally recognised brand expected to attract shoppers from across the region and generate new employment opportunities.
Uniqlo entered the Queensland market in 2016 and has continued to expand its presence across the state as part of its broader Australian growth strategy.
Further details, including the store’s official opening date, are expected to be announced in coming months.
