Police have charged a man with more than a dozen drug and weapons offences after investigations into the distribution of dangerous drugs across the Sunshine Coast.

Officers from the Sunshine Coast District Gang Squad and the Tactical Crime Squad executed a search warrant at an address in Nambour as part of Operation Yankee Fuji, on May 30 at about 9.30pm.

Police searched a black Dodge RAM where they allegedly located a semi-automatic handgun, multiple rounds of ammunition, more than $40,000 in cash and more than 200 grams of methylamphetamine.

A further $30,000 in cash and a commercial quantity of illicit tobacco and vapes was also seized from a Gold Coast property, along with a quantity of cocaine.

A 36-year-old Burleigh Waters man was charged with 16 offences including four counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and two counts each of supplying dangerous drugs and possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act.

He was also charged with one count each of unlawful possession of weapons, possessing detachable magazines without a licence, authority required to possess explosives, possessing anything for use in the commission of a crime, possessing property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, possessing relevant substances or things, fail to properly dispose of a needle or syringe, and contravening order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.

The man has been remanded in custody and will next face Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 8.

Officer in Charge of the Sunshine Coast Tactical Crime Squad Acting Senior Sergeant Brad Munt said Operation Yankee Fuji demonstrated the ongoing commitment of police to continue to target organised crime, remove dangerous offenders from the community, and reduce the harm caused by illicit drugs and associated criminal activity.
