Police have charged a Maroochydore man after an alleged stabbing that left another man with serious injuries in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called to Ocean Street at Maroochydore about 4.20am following reports that a man had been stabbed.
When officers arrived, they located a 20-year-old Bli Bli man suffering serious injuries and declared a crime scene.
Police also located a 32-year-old Maroochydore man nearby and took him into custody.
It will be alleged the two men were not known to each other and became involved in a verbal altercation before the older man allegedly stabbed the younger man with a knife.
Police allege the 20-year-old sustained five wounds to his chest and abdomen. He was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The 32-year-old has been charged with one count of wounding. He is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.
