Queenslanders are invited to celebrate the state’s heritage at a free, family-friendly community event on the Coast.
QLD Day celebrations will take place at the heritage-listed Landsborough Museum on June 6 from 3pm to 9pm featuring live music, family activities, food trucks and outdoor entertainment.
Visitors can watch the North Queensland Cowboys take on the Dolphins in the NRL and the Queensland Firebirds face the Sunshine Coast Lightning in Super Netball on a big screen.
The program will also include face painting, an inflatable obstacle course for children and a sporting history exhibition highlighting the Sunshine Coast’s sporting heritage. The exhibition will remain open until 9pm.
The museum is located at 4 Maleny Street, Landsborough, a short walk from the train station. More information and registrations are available at the event website.
As part of QLD Day celebrations, several Sunshine Coast landmarks and buildings will be illuminated in maroon. It forms part of the Queensland Government’s Light Up Queensland initiative.

The Queensland Government will also release the results of its ‘All the Best’ campaign on June 6, ranking Queensland icons across a range of categories.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli said QLD Day was an opportunity for residents to come together and celebrate the state.
“We all know Queensland is the best state and now’s the time to show our pride,” she said.
“QLD Day marks the day we broke free from New South Wales in 1859 and we’ve been revelling in that independent spirit ever since.
“This is about recognising all the best things about our state: our people, our places and our lifestyle.
“Whether you’re from the beach, the mountains or anywhere in between, QLD Day brings us together to commemorate what makes our community unique.
“I’ll certainly be wearing maroon on the sixth, let’s go Queenslanders!”
