The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew has had a busy weekend, attending back-to-back motorcycle crashes as well as a suspected sea snake bite.
The helicopter was first tasked by Retrieval Services Queensland at 11.33am on Saturday to a single motorcycle crash near Conondale.
It landed on the road, which was closed by the Queensland Police Service, and a critical care LifeFlight doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic worked with local paramedics to treat the female pillion passenger for lower leg injuries.
The patient, in her 50s, was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition, while the male rider was transported by road by QAS.
In the second mission, the helicopter was tasked at 1.54pm on Saturday to the Glass House Mountains after a motorcycle collided with a car.
The helicopter landed at a school oval where it met local QAS paramedics.
The male patient, in his 20s, was treated for chest and abdominal injuries by the LifeFlight doctor, QAS flight paramedic and local paramedics. He was transported by road to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition.
The helicopter was then tasked at 10.59am on Sunday to Double Island Point after a man suffered a suspected sea snake bite.
It landed on the beach, where a LifeFlight doctor and QAS flight paramedic worked with local paramedics to treat the patient for a bite to his right foot.
The patient, aged in his 20s, was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
