A truck rollover on the Sunshine Motorway forced the temporary closure of lanes during peak hour on Thursday morning.

Southbound lanes were closed after the incident, which occurred at about 8.30am to the north of the Yandina Coolum Road roundabout.

Images on social media showed a truck on its side on the shoulder of the road.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said a patient was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, suffering neck and shoulder injuries.

Police urged motorists to avoid the area immediately after the incident.

“Motorists are urged to drive to conditions, obey traffic directions and avoid seek alternative routes if possible,” it said.

The lanes were reopened within a matter of hours.
