A $30 million water and wastewater infrastructure project is set to cater for a planned residential and urban development area beside the highway, between Caboolture and the Sunshine Coast.

Developer Goldfields has announced that construction of the Elimbah Water and Sewerage Infrastructure Project will start this month.

It will service the planned development area, bound by Pumicestone Road, Clinker Road and the Bruce Highway, which was sold for $318 million earlier this year.

Goldfields development director Daniel Flanagan said the project represented a major investment in local infrastructure.

“This project will deliver essential water and wastewater infrastructure to support future growth and development in Elimbah,” he said.

The project includes new wastewater infrastructure, new and upgraded water mains, and construction of a new wastewater pump station and barometric loop.

National civic construction experts Winslow Group have been engaged as the principal contractor for the works, which will be completed in stages over about 12 months.

Mr Flanagan said Goldfields is committed to minimising disruption to the local community during construction.

“We’ve developed a comprehensive communications plan to keep residents informed every step of the way,” he said.

“We’ll be providing regular updates through our project website, distributing works notifications before each stage of construction, and maintaining open lines of communication with the community throughout the project.”

The project will include: a gravity sewer, running south from the intersection of Pumicestone and McGarry Roads down McGarry Road to the intersection with Old Toorbul Point Road; a pump station near the intersection of McGarry Road and Old Toorbul Point Road; and a rising main sewer running west from the new pump station along Old Toorbul Point Road, under the Bruce Highway, along Flowers Road and then south down Pumicestone Road to the intersection with Reserve Drive.

Construction is scheduled for completion in mid-2027, weather and construction conditions permitting.
